But I am surely approaching that and would love to stop. I drink every weekend and sometimes 3 times during the week. I drink and party with friends, and when I am sober I am a bore and useless with women. When drunk I am confident, and a player! Id love to stop completely but I need to build my social skills and confidence when sober. Anyone out there ever been on the same boat and got out?. Great Post i look forward to reading more! Now a day it is a very critical issue for us. Mostly the youngsters are doing these such types of things. I think it should be banned as soon as possible otherwise it may create so many problems for our coming generations. As we all knows that Interventions have been used to address serious personal problems, including, but not limited to, alcoholism, compulsive gambling, drug abuse, compulsive eating and other eating disorders, self-mutilation, tobacco smoking, "workaholism", and various types of poor personal health care. Many a times, we are caught in a predicament of wanting to trust the addict and yet not wanting to further aid the addiction by trusting him. Addicts are so clever in deceiving just to get their craving or fix. Those who have lived the agony would know what I mean. So the signs above are a good checklist to work through. Thankfully, my husband has been fully sober for two years now. For those of you looking for help for any kind of substance abuse, I would suggest www.recoveryconnection.org. They will discuss the addiction and find a suitable rehab center that will fit your needs.

Comment on Relapse Prevention - Recovery Tip Number 29

I believe that going to meetings is neccissary. There is so much you can take in from everyone weather they have more time or less time sober than you. They can always offer support and offten even little tips on what they did.
Also, it is always important to look at others and try and help them. It takes the focous off you and in the process you can annolize how far you've come. Remember even if there is a room of 100 people you might just touch that one person and that's all you need. That's what will fill that empty void. Human's always feel the need to help others, and it feels even better if it is through your own life experiences.
So I say, YES, please do attend meetings. You have nothing to lose and much to gain.
My name is Olivia, I'm an addict and I have been clean since May 15, 2008. Thanks for listening.
